Essential Oils are extracted from plants by various processes; normally by distilling the plant matter & extracting all the volatile properties. They can be extracted from many types of plants & from different parts of the plant. One oil may come from the leaves; eg. Eeucalyplus & other from the root, eg. Ginger. Each has unique properties, which can be utilized very effectively by the human body to aid health & prevent diseases.
Basil (Ocimum Sancturm)
Beneficial for alleviating mental fatigue, spasms, rhinitis, and as a first aid treatment for wasp stings and snake bits. It may also help when there is a loss of smell due to chronic nasal catarrh.
Bergamot (Citrus Bergamia)
The oil is extremely useful in the treatment of digestive problems such as colic, gastric spasms and sluggish digestion.
CAUTION : Because begamot is a photosensitiser it should never be used on the skin before going into strong sunlight, since pigmentation can occur.
Black Pepper (Piper Nigrum)
A very important stimulant in the treatment of certain digestive disorders, such as painful defaecation, constipation, loss of appetite. It helps cold and can be used as a sexual tonic.
Cardamom Green (Elettaria cardamomum)
Helpful in case of digestive problems like indigestion, vomiting etc. and nervous strain, mental fatigue.
Chamomile Blue (Chamomilla Recutita)
It is used as mouthwash and for a soothing eyebath. As a face wash it keeps the skin soft and supple. It also relieves a heavy head cold when used in a facial steam.
Clary Sage (Salvi Sclarea)
Is beneficial in regulating cells and balancing hormones, circulatory problems, hemorrhoids, respiratory system, digestive system and nervous system.
Clove Bud (Eugenia caryophyllata)
Tincture of clove is used for scabies, athlete's foot, digestive upsets, intestinal parasites, to ease the pain of childbirth (steeped in wine) toothache.

CAUTION : All clove oil can cause skin and mucous membrane irritation; clove bud and stem oil may cause dermatitis. Clove bud is the least toxic of the tree oils because of the lower eugenol percentage. Use in moderation only, in low dilution (less than 1 percent)
Cinnamon (Cinnamomum Zeylanicum)
They are stimulant and useful in relieving flatulence and in increasing secretion and discharge of urine. Cinnamon prevents nervous tension, improves complextion and memory.
Citronella (Cymbopogon Winterianus)
It is good in excessive perspiration, oily skin, insect repellent. It has been a popular remedy against mosquito attacks. It helps in case of flu, cold, minor infections, fatigue, headaches. ,migraine and neuralgia.
Coriander (Coriandrum Sativum)
It lowers glucose levels by normalizing insulin levels and supporting pancreas function. It also has anti inflammatory and sedative properties.
Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus Globulus)
Powerful herb dealing with viruses of the respiratory system. It is anticatarrhal, expectorant, mucolytic, antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral and antiseptic.
CAUTION : De to the strength of its cineole content it should not be inhaled on its own by small
Children.
Frankincense (Boswellia Carterii)
It is stimulating and elevating to the mind and helps in overcoming depression. A most useful oil emotionally, it soothen anger, irritability and frustration and relieves grief and confusion.
Geranium (Pelargonium Graveolens)
Has been used for centuries for skin care. It is excellent for the skin of expectants mothers and its aromatic influence helps release negative memories.
Ginger (Zingiber officinale)
It is digestive tonic, relieves toothaches, and is anticatarrhal, warming to the muscular system and reputed to be a sexual tonic.
Juniper Berry (Juniperus Communis)
May work as a detoxifier and cleanser, reducing dermatitis, eczema, and acne. Oil of Juniper berry is given as a diuretic, stomachic and carminative in indigestion, flatulence and disease of the kidney and bladder.
Lavander (Lavandula Officinalis)
Beneficial for skin conditions such as burns, rashes, psoriasis, and may also help with insomnia.
Lemon (Citrus limon)
It is most effective in the treatment of digestive disorders as it regulates stomach acidity. Its regular use in bath or massage helps to control achne, greasy skin and herpes. Effective in the treatment of verrucas, Corns, Warts.
Lemon Grass (Cymbopogon Flexuosus)
It may be beneficial for the digestive system and has been reported to help regenerate connective tissue. It vasodilator, anti-inflammatory, sedative and supportive to the digestive system.
Lime (Citrus Aurantifolia)
It is used for fever, infections, sore throat, colds, etc. In the past it was used as a remedy for dyspepsia with glycerine of pepsin.
Mandarin C.P (Citrus Reticulata)
Good digestive oil for stomach pains, indigestions and constipation. Fluid retention, obesity and fatigue can all benefit from the use of mandarin oils, and like lemon oil it can relieve guilt and resentment.
Myrrh (Commiphora Myrrha)
Help with asthma, bronchitis, catarrh, coughs, gingivitis (gum infection), mouth ulcer and sore throat. It may also help alleviate diarrhoea, dyspepsia, flatulence, haemorrhoids, decongests the prostate and normalize hyperthyroid problems.
Nutmeg (Myristica Fragrans)
It helps to support the nervous systems to overcome frigidity, impotence, neuralgia and nervous fatigue
Orange Sweet (Citrus Sinensis)
It has been recognized to help a dull, oily complextion, mouth ulcers, obesity, fluid retention, colds, flu, constipation and dyspepsia.
Palmarosa (Cymbppogon Martinii)
The oils is extensively used as substitute of attar or roses and as base for perfumes and cosmetics. Palmarosa oil along with sandalwood oils is used mosquito repellent ointments.
Patchouli (Pogostemon Cabin)
Is very beneficial for the skin and may help prevent wrinkles or chapped skin. It is a general tonic and stimulant and helps the digestive system.
Peppermint (Mentha Piperita)
It may be used in water or flavoring and helps in cooling the body during hot summer days. It has been used for a variety of complaints like indigestion, nausea, sore throat, diarrhoea, headaches, toothaches, and cramps.
Rosemary (Rosmarinus Officinalis)
May be beneficial for skin conditions and dandruff, and may help fight candida and support he immune system. It is anti-catarrhal, anti-infectious, antispasmodic, balances the endocrine system.
CAUTION : Rosemary oils with high camphor content are best not used regularly or at concentrations exceeding 2 drops in 20 ml. during the first five months of pregnancy or by people who suffer from high blood pressure.
Spearmint (Mentha Spicata)
It is antispasmodic, anti-infectious, antiparasitic, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory. Its hormone-like activity may help open and release emotional blocks and bring about a feeling of balance. It has been used to increase metabolism to burn fat.
Tea Tree (Melaleuca Alternifolia)
When used in gargles, mouthwashes, inhalations or vaporizers, it is a most effective bactericide, alleviating intestinal infections bronchitis. It also relieves mouth ulcers, calm diarrhoea and gastroenteritis. Relieves boils and rashes, soothes sunburns and encourages healing of open wounds.
Thyme White (Trachyspermum ammi)
The oil is beneficial in the treatment of rheumatic and neuralgic pains. Oil is also useful in cholera, flatulent colic, diarrhoea, atomic dyspepsia and indigestion.
Valerian Root (Valeriana Wallichii)
Is used almost exclusively for its powerfully calming effect on the nervous system, thus aiding all conditions related to severe mental stress eg. Insomnia, agitation, nervous headaches, nervous stomach, palpitations.
Vetiver (Vetiveria Zizanioides)
Is a calming, grounding oils with immuno-stimulant antiseptic properties. It has been helpful for arthritis like conditions, anxiety, insomnia, depression, oily skin, and acne.
Ylang Ylang ( Cananga Odorata)
May be extremely effective in calming and bringing about a sense of relaxation. It is antispasmodic, balances equilibrium, helps with sexual disabilities and frigidity and has been used traditionally to balance heart function.
